A woman can do abortion with A doctor or with a partner not alone.
While having the abortion, it is important to have someone close by; this can be the partner, a friend or a relative who knows about the abortion and who can help in case of complications. Once the bleeding starts, someone should stay in contact with the woman to be able to help in case complications occur.
Do not use alcohol or drugs during the treatment!!! The woman must be able to pay close attention to what is happening in her body. If the cramps are very painful, she can use Ibuprofen, or a hot water bottle or heating pad, but never alcohol or drugs.
For The Future
Get good contraception to prevent a new unwanted pregnancy.
An IUD can be inserted by a doctor as soon as the bleeding has finished and a pregnancy test is negative or when an ultrasound shows an empty womb.
Oral contraceptives can be taken once the bleeding is finished as well, but they will not be completely safe during the first month. Use extra contraceptives such as condoms for extra protection during the first month.
Positive Pregnancy Test
Good home pregnancy tests can be bought at a pharmacy or drug store. You only need to put a bit of urine on the tester and after a few minutes you will see if you are pregnant or not. You can also go to your general practioner or family doctor for a pregnancy test.
Am I Pregnant
You can do a pregnancy test from the first day you missed your expected period and onwards. Before this time, the level of hormones produced by the pregnancy is too low to show up on the test and you may get a 'false negative' result.
If you think you may be pregnant, it is important that you get tested, especially if the possible pregnancy is unwanted. Sometimes the fear of being pregnant alone causes enough stress to delay the period.
